Abbey S.p.A. respect the environment with solar energy

Abbey S.p.A. has always been attentive to environmental issues. The company adopts policies for the production and use of renewable energy, taking advantage of the large surface area of its warehouses. The attention of our company on these important issues is not a fact that has emerged only recently, when sensitivity has become more widespread, but dates back to 2010, the year in which Abazia S.p.A. has taken the first step into the world of renewable energy.

The first step consisted in the installation of solar panels on part of the roof of the company, capable of supplying a nominal power of about 90 kWp. Eight years later, in 2018 the installation of the entire roof was completed, adding solar panels capable of producing a nominal power of another 400 kWp.

Since Abazia S.p.A. is an energy-intensive company, in 2022 a further installation of solar panels was built in the land adjacent to the company building, which made it possible to add a further 450 kWp of nominal power. The sum of the three plants thus makes it possible to reach today a nominal peak power of 940 kwp, an important milestone that makes it possible to cover an important part of the company’s energy needs.

Considering that the current requirement of Abazia S.p.A. is 2,600,000 kwh, with a photovoltaic production that more than doubles, we can estimate that in 2023 renewable energies will satisfy as much as 40% of our needs and that the excess part, as it is produced on public holidays approximately 200,000 kWh will be sold to the grid to meet the needs of 60 families.
